If you enjoy taking care of your hair and nails from the comfort of your own home, you are not alone. Many men and women dye their hair and do self pedi and manicures at home.
Included here are some ways I have found to make these processes easier and more user friendly.
For health and beauty from the home enthusiasts, having a set area that is designated for these activities is not always possible. If you don’t have a separate space that can be dedicated, a good way to get around it is to have baskets set up with the usual implements needed for home beauty care. For instance, having a container (I find baskets andf shower caddy’s to be the best as they usually have handles) ready to go with nail files, wood sticks, clippers, cotton pads, polish and remover, and other items that you regularly use for mani/pedi will make it easier and quicker to pull together and do…so also generally will make it more likely that you will do them regularly!! When you have to dig through a bathroom or vanity to find these simple items before you can even get started, you are not going to be as likely to want to treat yourself to a manicure! Many would agree that regular manicures and pedicures are not only good for the self image, but also a way to keep your toes and fingers in good healthy order!
I also like to keep a bag of hair dying odds and ends. Regulars to health and beauty from the home may already have one of these or something similar and not even realize! This is where i keep any left over developer, color, bleach, gloves, conditioners, capes and caps, etc. I can often go into my bag and find what I need to do a quick touch up, which is great when I don’t have cash on hand to buy supplies or just simply don’t want to go to the beauty supply! It also helps to have some supplies ready when you make a mistake, or don’t buy enough to do the job…of course a working knowledge of the do’s and don’ts of mixing color and chemicals is also helpful…but in the age of the internet you can generally find your way as long as you are not doing anything too terribly tricky!
