There are many brands of mascara out in the market that offer sky-high promises of long and thick lashes. Often we are lost in the sea of volumizing mascara, lengthening mascara, black mascara, brown, purple mascara, fiber mascara, collagen mascara, etc, all claiming to be the best make up mascara. We get lured by the prestige of high-end lash mascaras stating new technologies to give the perfect lash, and we dig deeper into our pockets every time a new kid on the block claims to give us the best effects we want. All these gimmicks and innovations make us wonder what they might think of next.
Well, if we cannot afford to buy expensive mascara one after another, the least we can do is sustain the ones we have with some mascara tips. The best mascara results come from basic hygiene.
Here are 5 Never’s:
- Never introduce water to your mascara wand or mascara tube thinking that it helps keep the moisture intact. This will not only dilute the mascara beyond the accurate formulaic percentage, but more importantly, bring in harmful bacteria and cause eye infections.
- Never pump your eye mascara wand in and out of the tube thinking that the more gunk you have on the wand the better the results. This will cause the eyelash mascara to dry out more easily. In addition, pumping the wand in and out will create more clumps and you would get very messy, clumpy and uneven eyelashes.
- Never clean the mascara wand with only water. Should there be a need to clean the mascara wand, put some makeup remover on the wand to wash off the dried up mascara. Wipe it thoroughly with a tissue to remove dried up residue. Clean it with soap and water and let it dry. In the meantime try to keep the mascara tube in a cool and dry place and use something to cover up the top.
- Never leave the cosmetic mascara tube open. It is imperative to select a mascara tube with an airtight cap. This reduces the risk of bacterial growth and resultant eye infections. Make a trip to your local store and try out the samples.
- Never share mascara, not even with your mum, sister or best friend.
Take heed the importance of using mascara in a careful and sanitary manner, and you will see that your mascara will last longer than ever.
